Intelligence?

Well he is right on one thing, George Bush was not elected by a majority of voters.  He was elected by the Supreme Court you may recall.

But still, this guy is scary. Rampant Fundamentalism is one of the scourges of contemporary society and this new general is clearly a rampant fundamentalist.   

As we hurtle into the 21st century a lot of folk uncomfortable with the breakneck pace of change and all around the world fundamentalists are suddenly taking charge.  In Africa, old women with red eyes are burned as witches and in India they burned as widows.  In the Middle East, Ariel Sharon is just as fundamentalist as any Hamas suicide bomber and not truly interested in Peace, he wants it all.  (George Bush the only one thinks Ariel Sharon really wants an equitable Peace in the Middle East)   Many Islamic countries are crippled by an almost feudal fundamentalism and in America creationism is judged science and George Bush is elected President. 

God help us all.

Folk rant and rave about the influence of Fundamentalism on Islamic societies but we are just as slave to our Christian Fundamentalists.  George Bush and his  Bibletoting Generals swear that God is speaking to him. Leading him in this holy crusade against the evil ones.  And so now we got folk dying in Iraq on an imperial humbug.  Im telling you this is scary stuff.

Theocracies  are rarely good governments.  They are rarely good anythings.  Too much certainty, too many evil ones to war against, within and without.  Not enough of the nuance that makes life and governing reasonable.  The founding folk knew it.  When did we forget it.

Basically this War On Terrorism has become one of our Christian Fundamentalists against their Islamic Fundamentalists.    Bush truly believes that he has a direct line from God.  He has a fundamentalist sense of rightness that will not listen to evidence or even common sense.  He swears God is on his side and he is as narrowminded as any Iranian ayatollah.  They want to take us all back to some era that exists only in their repressed heads.  Between his faith based initiatives, his dead or alive crusades, his Bibletoting generals and his inexplicable holywars, we appear to be in the last days and times.

And as so often happens with fundamentalists in charge, the rest of us have to go along for the ride as our people are led over the cliff into the sea.  This is a lot deeper than most folk seem to think it is.  Im sure the Germans didn’t believe the Brownshirts were really a problem.  No, not here, they said, no never here.  We really really got to stop George Bush and the Rightwing Ascendency in 2004.  Before they muck up the world beyond repair.

As long as its our fundamentalists against theirs I fear we will lose that match.  Fundamentalism is not really our strong suit.  The problem of course is that their fundamentalists are so much more . . . well, fundamental. . . than ours are.  Can you imagine George Bush flying his plane into those towers.

No. George Bush used his plane to run scared on 9/11.  Ran like a little chicken.

And had the nerve to put on a flightsuit.

Taming Cynthia McKinney

Cynthia McKinney is the fiesty sister who so challenged the powers that be as a Congresswoman from Georgia that she was targeted for defeat by rightwing forces backing a tame black candidate chosen to run against her by a combination of business interests, a heavy Republican crossover vote in the Democratic open primary, and Jewish groups upset with her outspoken support of Palestinian nationalism.

She was recently invited to be the Frank H.T. Rhodes visiting professor at Cornell University. This is a three year appointment to teach classes on issues such as politics, human rights, voting rights, etc. The same forces that targeted her as a congresswoman have now implemented a pressure campaign designed to encourage Cornell to rescind her invitation.

Progressive forces have begun a letter writing counter-campaign supporting this invitation. Please send informed letters to Mr. Jeffrey Lehman, President / Room 300, Bay Hall / Cornell University / Ithaca, NY 14853.

Of course it might be easier to email him.

I emphasize the word INFORMED. Please make sure that these letters/emails are thoughtful, respectful, informed and appropriate to the moment. A flood of unsophisticated, polemic and ineffective letters/emails will only irritate them and be counterproductive.

Really Big Pimping

Okay, this is going to be interesting. Nelly's new drink, Pimpjuice is about to hit the stands. This is going to be real interesting. Coming right after the Ghettopoloy fury it will be real interesting to see who jumps up and down about Pimpjuice.

The NAACP got furious about Ghettopoly but Nelly they put up for an Image Award. Whats up with that.

Itll be interesting to see what the gansta apology industry/academics have to say about Pimpjuice. How will they try to justify this one. Guess all those pimps and wouldbe pimps have to keep their strength up. Guess those of us who object to this cultural travesty are just Hatas.

All cultures are in a constant state of flux, a dynamic blend of the dysfunctional and the illuminative. African American culture is as intensely dysfunctional as it is illuminative. So dysfunctional you wonder sometime if we will survive as a distinct culture and peoples. On the other hand so illuminative that at its best it is capable of being a guiding light to the entire human race.

Those of us concerned with the health of the tribal soul know we must constantly work to encourage the illuminative and discourage the dysfunctional. The wars over gangsta rap and mercenary literature are wars for control over the development of our cultural traits. Our Destiny. Our Fa.

Its bad enough when others try to kill the tribal soul for a fistful of dollars but its even worse when our own pimp us. I guess ol Rickydoc gon have to be called a Hata on this one because this one offends me to my very core.

And you know if its successful we will see a lot of these.

Ima tell you now, I will refuse to shop at any store, (local corner or national chain), that carries this trash, I will even pull out one of my old civil rights signs and march in a circle if necessary, I will refuse to support Nelly and his mercenary cohorts in any shape form or fashion (every chance I get Im gon call them out for the mercenary dogs they are) and I will use this opportunity to question which of our culture traits do we really consider viable. Which do we plan to take with us into the future and which should be left behind.

It is in our everyday acts that we shape ourselves as a people. Cultural traits are forged and we choose in our every day acts the people we are to be. The question as always is will we define ourselves or are we to continue to be defined by those who despise us (within and without). We must conduct ourselves as we aspire to be and we shall. It is the essence of conjuration. (What we know in our heads, our children will know in their hearts, our descendants in their souls.) And contrary to the opinion of much of America, we do not as a people aspire to be pimps.

Yeah, Nellys big pimping alright, hes pimping us all.
