FRIDAY
this the fake terrorism report the state department
put out claiming terrorism is down is problematic on a lot of levels
one it shows that bush admin is still cooking any books it pleases
which is really problematic when the books in this case are so important
you really cant trust a thing they say and they just wont take this seriously
now they saying they didnt get the intelligence right
how many times are they gon use that excuse
if the agencies responsible for monitoring terror cooking the book
or just incompetent we in big trouble
they used it to claim that bush was winning the war on terrorism
and they didnt fess up until they got called on it
powell says hes shocked, absolutely shocked
they just not serious about this
they wont even take terrorism seriously
they not serious about governing, never was
they spend all their time figuring out how to trick people
middle passage blues
im on my way to newyork for medgar evers annual juneteenth ceremony to honor the ancestors who didnt make the middle passage
cultural performances allday on the boardwalk (including yours true)
folk drumming, dancing, meditating, picnicing on the beach
seriously grooving
and my favorite moment:
drummers and dancers leading the
sunset passage to the waters
and leaving gifts of flowers to oshun
and the ancestors
i seen de mambo cheryl byron spiritdance she on
the oceans floor in a floating bed of flowers
all day saturday
F train to the end of the line
be there or be square
the king is dead
no, forget reagan
im talking about ray charles
"I personally feel that it was not a question of mixing gospel with the blues. It was a question of singing the only way I knew how to sing. Gospel and the blues are really, if you break it down, almost the same thing. It's just a question of whether you're talkin' about a woman or God."
this sunday everybody should pull out their
favorite ray charles album
and take a moment of music
for the king
long live the king
THURSDAY
i been losing readership. my daily numbers going down
only a few folk interested in my afrospiritual posts
my chosen readership
but this blog is part of an ideological move
commenting on current events while doing my prophetic thing
by showing that realworld application of my hoodoo worldview
i hope to validate my hoodoo reality to folk who would otherwise dismiss me
and hoodoo
my current woodshed mode however
has emphasized an impatience with shortgame commentary
ive dropped it in favor of longgame commentary
which is what i really like to do
and i havent been keeping my finger on the pulse like i generally do
im usually monitoring and lurking all over the place
but ive had to withdraw into a woodshed mode
thought i would take the drop in readership sanguinely
but apparently i dont
i crave readership
with an unholy passion
so, bringing back rootsbag: weekly (daily?) commentary
and eventually do my 'newsletter' again,
still going to be spotty while im in the woodshed
maybe do daily (or so commentary) and then clean up on weekend
get all that slush out of there, i hate slush
we talking woodshed commentary: clean and tight
mostly Im drawn to the ironic moment:
for instance, let me get this straight now.
memos keep surfacing that make it clear
the Bush Administration decided they could
torture people and get away with it
"In order to respect the President's inherent constitutional authority to manage a military campaign, [the U.S. law banning torture] must be construed as inapplicable to interrogations undertaken pursuant to his Commander-in-Chief authority,"
"In light of the President's complete authority over the conduct of war, without a clear statement otherwise, criminal statutes are not read as infringing on the President's ultimate authority in these areas."
well that’s cool.
at least now we know where the responsibility for abu graib lies
at least now we know who was in charge
and what about the new prime minister of iraq
this iyad allawi guy
a CIA operative who, ran, get this now, a terror campaign against saddam
that included among other things, killings and car bombings.
this is so rich I can barely digest it
i guess terrorism is okay as long as they our terrorists
and all that drama about selecting him and how the
united states didnt have anything to do with it
how surprised they were that the
picked IRC picked him
if it wasnt such a tragedy it would be funny
its unfortunate to see the UN figleafing for bush
but i guess they playing to the best of their position
all the kings horses and all the kings men
want to put iraq back together again
problem is all this newfound neocon respect for international accord
will fly out the window if bush, cheney and crew win re-election
with a real mandate
they will stage 2 their radical domestic and international agendas
god help us all
okay, a couple other matters worth commentary before i go
bill cosbys recent comments
mainstream black pundits gave him an embarrassed slide
black counterpundits savaged him
dispute raised interesting comments/issues
about classism, developmental strategies
hanging dirty laundry and so forth
rickydoc say cosbys comments were unfortunate
he embarrassed the racial uplift school
of which i am a charter member
i agree probably with everything he said
but you cant restrict a criticism to one class
specially a bougie achiever talking about the underclass
thats just silly, shows this is not a thoughtout position
he just venting. wasting our precious time
you want to say blackfolk slacking
spread the wealth
if he had chosen to indict his own class slack
while doing in other classes
then he would have been saying something
we could use
instead of making himself look like a idiot
and Darfur, my heart bleeds for Darfur
i just dont know what to do about darfur
according to relief agencies, up to a million people
are going to die no matter what at this point
at a minimum the sudan must be forced to allow relief agencies
access to darfur
the south seems to be a done deal
though they have had deals before that
fell through and otherwise floundered
one can only hope against hope
that this one pulls through
but darfur seems to be dying on the vine
im tired of just talking about this, my words feel inadequate
which raises issues of policy influence
we have got to master the art of policy influence
even the rich and powerful must master policy influence
or be left to the mercies of those that do
ive got to find out where the pressure points are on darfur
who are the players, where are the handles of influence
this one bothers me enough that i feel like
i need to invest some game effort
patience puppy
(took that line from clavells shogun, when the young bull
wanted to run down the hill and the oldbull said patience puppy)
one thing clear to me though
as long as outside forces have to come in to save them
the blacks of the sudan will continue to be subject
to the whims of their arab masters
garang and the spla showed the way
the militarization of darfur has caused some unfortunate shortgame
but the move is long past due
they must forge themselves into a force
capable of enforcing their own security
we can no longer be subject to the whims
of others
okay im gone, novelwork to do,
maybe later come by and clean it up
add some links
peace
