project censored
djenra windwalker brought project censored to my attention:
a sonoma state university student run media research group
announces release of annual publication, censored 2005
a compilation of the years 27 most significant news stories
that were overlooked by national press
"we define censorship as interference with the free flow of information." says peter phillips, director of the project, "corporate media in the united states is interested primarily in entertainment news to feed their bottom-line priorities. very important news stories that should reach the american public often fall on the cutting room floor to be replaced by sex-scandals and celebrity updates."
fuller exploration here of censored2005s top most censored news stories makes for fascinating reading

SATURDAY
okay, its 4 oclock saturday morning and im still buried
in putting together a structure for the hoodoo book of flowers
meant to just look at some other soul initiation structures
refresh my memory and knock one off, ive done initiation structures before
so i didnt expect it to be a big deal, but instead ive moved into
an information gathering mode
this could take the whole weekend and thats a no can do
got to get some weekend novelwork done, so i guess the schedule will be
one day a weekend for the hoodoo book of flowers
2 days for rest for the weary, thats the best i can do
patience rickydoc, pace yourself
STILL FRIDAY (7:43 am)
coda: ive changed my mind
novel first, then book of flowers
i will let book of flowers be the reward
for a good solid day of novelwork
not actually fighting the fire
more like trying to channel it

FRIDAY (7:05 am)
update: the hoodoo book of flowers
as i knew it would
just putting it up in public so raw
is forcing me to address it
cause it embarass me for it out there limping and lame
so im sitting down today and working out a real divination structure
i pulled four divination texts from my shelves last night
the sacred tarot by cc zain of the brotherhood of light
the iching: a book of changes, translation by wilhelm
a recitation of ifa by gleason/aworinde/ogundipe
& the craft of power by r.g.h. siu
going to use them to do a rough system
only willing to invest one morning to this so still gon be rough
(i dont believe im taking on another major project, im already tired, stressed
and overextended, this really dont make no sense)
other update is on students
i put all that criteria on my initial student posting
had to be working on novel and preferably both novel and hoodoo, etc etc
but ive been contacted by folk w/a spectrum of interests
some only interested in hoodoo, some working on nonfiction
whatever whatever, i got my preferences but truth be told
im totally open on that, im flexible
okay, i got to go, see if i can put this system together
cause this evening i got to get back to rest
should actually do rest in the morning and this project in the evening,
but the creative fire is on me to get this thing done
and off my plate (been thinking about it all morning)
and one thing ive learned in 30 years of struggling to be a productive artist
is you dont try to fight the creative fire, dont matter what you had planned to do
when the fire come down on you, you just submit to it and do what it tell you to
i know that if i ride the fire i will have a sublimely productive day
if i try to fight it, wont nothing get done and there will be hell to pay
be well

arf
Hey Arf, I'd be very interested if you have an opinion of the Tarot Lukumi. I'm compellingly curious about this deck and have posted to my blog about it some.

im afraid i dont know the tarot
wish i did
when i studied the sacrot tarot by zain
i was studying it more as a mystic knowledge system
than i was for the tarot knowledge per se
now that ive picked it up again and noting
all the symbolic density i wish i did know tarot
