THURSDAY
cronies in crime
in a bid to derail impending un deployment in darfur, arab countries
at recent arab summit offer to fund continued ineffectual african union
troop deployment in order to support/facilitate sudans freedom of action in darfur
guess we see which side of the bread thats buttered on
they could have pressured the sudan to back down on its genodical campaign
but no - apparently dead muslims dont count - if they black
are you surprised, im not
probably gave the sudan an arab summit marketing award
of some sort
WEDNESDAY
taylor caught on nigerian border
boy news cycles move fast these days
tuesday im wondering if im gon comment on taylor escaping nigeria
apparently the us pressured a very reluctant johnson-sirleaf to move on taylor
which is interesting - so tuesday he booked and boom, wednesday he caught
look to me like obasanjo let him slide as a professional curtesy
but reconsidered when the world jumped bad on him
what tickle me is it just turned wednesday here and flowers is on it
today im ahead of the sun, today im scooping like an outlaw blog spose to
tomorrow this be oldnews
so i got to put strategic context on it (you may notice a lot of that lately)
so im not wasting my time on the insignificant
big concern these days cause im overextended/swimming underwater
and not posting as much because im really feeling like its got to be worth
the time/project costs whatever i do
constantly trying to determine whats really
significant and whats sidegame
is this a crossroads
or aint it
and lord knows
aint no rest for the weary lord
lord knows aint no rest for the weary

TUESDAY
client ethics flow both ways
raised question of client ethics in hoodoo circles
and got impassioned complaints from practitioners about client
abuse - clients that mislead, clients that dont pay
clients that suck emotional blood
wasnt quite what i expected and changed question
from client ethics to one of client relations
how do you maintain an emotional distance/reserve from clients problems
what constitutes satisfactory work in affairs of the spirit
what is the nature of a good client and a bad one
how do you cultivate good clients over bad ones
how do you build a client base and nurture it
questions of this sort come to fore
personally i reject far more than i accept
and am quick to tell an inquiree to take their case elsewhere
my own question is still what constitutes good soulcare
but it seems
everything is more complicated than it seems
im tired
im outta here
im rickydoc
MONDAY MORNING
didnt get any work done this weekend, what a pity
spent most of it at a conference on transnational citizenship
good conference but it ate my weekend
working on developing a hoodoo pantheon
went onto luckymojo to see what hoodoo ancesters cat had on there
and i have to give credit where credit is due, cat got some serious hoodoo history/knowledge
on that site - its fascinating reading and its grown since the last time i looked
and she such a serious scholar that she forced into this interesting dance
on the history of hoodoo supply houses and her own - curious curios indeed
its all about marketing her products and while the information is priceless, i mean priceless
im like the old memphis conjure in hyatt - i makes my own - and when im advising clients i have them use ingredients they can either find around the home or at the grocerystore
or at most the local herb store, this spose to be a guerilla homegrown system
i have in the past bought highjohn roots in bulk from her cause they hard to find
but i dont pay nobody i dont have to and i dont have my clients buying a bunch of this and that
controlling oil and all that kind of stuff
im what her site calls a 'lady hearted hoodoo' - it aint about money, its about soulcare
taking care of my peoples souls on a individual level that leavens my prophetic indifference:
my tendency towards the big picture - want to save the world but aint got time for people
i am very serious about the ethics of client care
had a client recently that wanted guarantees and i told her i dont give guarantees but im good at what i do - if you dont like the Work dont pay me - i aint in it for the money, im in it for the service
peat and repeat: no good options in somalia
whats going on - recent battles over a somalian port caught
the old rootdoctor by surprise, the old rootdoctor dont like surprises
apparently islamic courts trying to impose a fundamentalist
islamic government on the lawless state of somalia
for the uninformed, somalia has been without a government
since warlords drove out the last one 15 years ago
since then its been a ungovernable patchwork of warlords and clans
recently the 14th interim government was established
(in kenya) but is based outside of mogadishu because of security concerns
its basically nonfunctional and running scared
apparently fundamentalist imans trying to fill the void have
established islamic courts imposing their fundamentalist vision on somalia
they recently had a big battle in which they took control of
a critical port from an alliance of warlords formed to oppose them
so now we got a situation with no good answers
those who know me know i am not in favor
of the further islamization of somalia
one of my abiding concerns is the ongoing african jihad
that continues to impose itself on africa over a wide range of
africa states from somalia to the sudan, chad, kenya, mali,
nigeria and mauritania, etc etc etc
the alert surfer might note that these are all islamic countries or ones
with huge islamic populations and my response is that i rest my case
the coast has long been lost, egypt, libya, etc are for all practical purposes
no longer considered african, now islam is moving on sub sahara africa
the effort to impose genocide of african tribes in the sudan, sharia in nigeria
slavery in mauretania, etc etc and now sharia/fundamentalism in somalia
means that we africanists are losing a critical battle for the african soul
and body (slavery, genocide, etc) and territory (ethnic cleansing in darfur, etc)
this would not bother me if so much of it were not imposed thru force
as it has been done since the advent of islam in africa
the islamic conquest of africa is a difficult subject because so many afroams have gone muslim but when blackfolk in america re-name themselves after muhammad ali, one of the most
proficient slavers/killers of blacks ever to depopulate the sudan, we have a problem
i dont mind islam in africa as long as its not coercive but islam must
be made to understand that it is a guest in africa and not a conqueror
way things going now, two three generations and africa might be an islamic continent
and we diasporic africans will have no motherland to hope on
we will be surrounded by our enemies, the west on one side, islam on the other
with no place to call home, no place where the african worldview can evolve
into the glory it could be instead of the ruin that it is
when the only place folk killed each other behind the danish cartoons was nigeria
i was like why are africans dying over islamic issues when the arabs arent -
this thing between islam and the west aint even our war
and now who do i have on the frontlines of somalian resistance to
islamic fundamentalism - the warlords, islamic themselves and nobodys bargain
and what am i hoping for, that the warlords will be forced to form a government
in a successfull attempt to resist further fundamentalization of somalia
oh my poor people,
oh my poor sad and wretched people
hold on, better days are coming
rickydoc aint gon let this condition stand
